My Campaign Journey
Trusted Leadership for North Carolina
I have served in the North Carolina House of Representatives for four terms, representing the people of Avery, McDowell and Mitchell counties. Prior to my appointment to the House in 2013, I served as a McDowell County Commissioner. Currently serving as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, as well Chairman of the Health Policy Committee. I have worked diligently to find consensus while producing common-sense solutions for the people of North Carolina.
My tenure as a representative of my home state has been a rewarding experience. North Carolina is a diverse state and to have people from across this state come together and learn about where I come from and for me to learn about where they come from and just build those relationships has been something I don’t take for granted. It has been the honor of my life to serve alongside my fellow representatives and represent the 85th district.
I knew early on, that I wanted to serve four terms at the state level. The only position that appealed to me was Commissioner of Labor. After our current Labor Commissioner, Cherie Berry announced her retirement, I knew that this would give me the opportunity to continue to make an impact for the people of North Carolina. With impeccable timing and after discussing it at length with my family, we announced my intent to run in May 2019.
I look forward to your support in the coming months leading up to November 3rd. You play an integral role in this journey; for more information about how to get involved in my campaign, please visit joshforlabor.com.
